Formerly a movie palace and now a popular concert and event venue, the historic Fox Theatre is an integral part of Midtown Atlanta history. Originally planned as a temple for the Atlanta Shriner’s organization and redeveloped in the late 1920s by the Fox Theatre Company, it was saved from demolition in the ’70s by community efforts after it fell into disrepair. Forty years later, the Fox Theatre is thriving and plays a critical part in the Atlanta arts community, hosting 300 events a year and 600,000 fans. The theatre is a destination for a huge variety of events, including concerts, theatre performances and festivals. Popular events include concerts from pop artists, the Atlanta Ballet, summer film series, and touring companies of Broadway shows. Located five minutes from 1065 Midtown, the Fox is a neighborhood favorite.
