Midtown Atlanta’s Rich Arts Community

The fine arts community of the South is more present then ever in recent history and there are so many gems to discover in such a rich, culturally diverse geography. Atlanta is a hub to music, theatre, film, and so much more and is the fingertips of Midtown residents.

Atlanta Film Festival– As you probably know, Atlanta is a major hub for film, and it comes to no surprise that it is home to a major film festival. For 43 years, the Atlanta Film Festival has welcomed hundreds of thousands of filmmakers and film lovers from across the globe to gather around the silver screen. One of only two dozen Academy Award-qualifying events in the country, the Atlanta Film Festival showcases over 200 films, selected from more than 8,400 submissions, over an eleven day event each spring. This 43rd year will be bigger and better than ever, and we want to celebrate with you.

Atlanta Dogwood Festival– An Atlanta staple for 81 years, there is something for everyone at the Atlanta Dogwood Festival in Piedmont Park. Virtually every kind of art imaginable is represented at the festival, with a nationally renowned-juried Fine Artist Market that includes sculpture, paintings, pottery, jewelry, photography and much more. Come out April 12-14th.

Cinderella at the Fox Theatre– Rodger and Hammerstein’s Cinderella comes to Atlanta’s renowned Fox theatre for a local tour. With its fresh new take on the beloved tale of a young woman who is transformed from a chambermaid into a princess, this hilarious and romantic Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella combines the story’s classic elements – glass slippers, pumpkin, and a beautiful ball along with some surprising twists. Cinderella will play at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre April 5-7, 2019.

Spring Festival on Ponce– The eighth annual Spring Festival on Ponce will be held Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7, 2019 in Atlanta’s historic Olmsted Linear Park. The two-day event will feature over 125 displays of local and regional fine art and crafts, utilizing the gorgeous landscape designed by one of America’s most celebrated landscape architects, Fredrick Olmsted, Sr. In addition, there will be a children’s area, local gourmet food trucks, beverages and a stage for acoustic musical performances. The event is free, open to all ages, and dogs are welcome.
