Renovations to Nearby Colony Square
Continuing the Dialogue of Development in Midtown
When word started going around on college campuses all over the U.S. a generation ago that Atlanta was a cool place to settle after getting your degree, the visionary, mixed-use design of Colony Square was one of the cornerstones of that cool.
What inspired today’s state-of-the-art Colony Square was a pioneering venture then – big-city office space, residences, shopping, and entertainment all in the same plan and the same footprint. Colony Square had a fundamental effect on the desirability of condos for sale in Midtown Atlanta; it served the city well as its influence cropped up all around.
Under way now is a transformation at Colony Square that will bring the sense of the new century to life there at the bustling corner of 14th Street and Peachtree. It’s the logical answer back to the impact Colony Square had on Midtown Atlanta real estate since its beginning, and it represents a plunge ahead.
Taking the Lid Off
One of the more conspicuous measures in the new Colony Square design is to open its retail hub to the sky. A gorgeous central plaza replaces the roofed-in retail core and nurtures with it a pedestrian experience with its courtyard that’s more like a park and less like a street. Fountains, flowers, an outdoor market, and a cafe will make shopping an encounter rather than an errand.
A Place of Business
The two towers of Colony Square boast more than 700,000 square feet of office space at a point in the city where density has proven its desirability. It’s role as a business center will be undiminished.
The residential and retail enhancements are expected to add to the value long-demonstrated there, and developer North American Properties has proven its ability to bring vitality, with its work at Atlantic Station, and with the Avalon in Alpharetta.
Under Way and in Good Hands
In fact, North American Properties received the national 2017 Developer of the Year Award, “for their outstanding work in developing properties that transform the community and create lasting value for the citizens who live there,” by LOCUS: Responsible Real Estate Developers and Investors.
